The Authors with Purpose Collective is dedicated to the celebration and empowerment of local Black children's authors. Our mission is to champion writers who create literature that mirrors the vibrant diversity of our world and encourages young minds to dream, learn, and flourish.
In support of the Black Church Book Tour program, our collective serves as a valuable resource, dedicated to curating a selection of books that align with the program's objectives, ensuring that young readers have access to captivating and culturally relevant literature that fosters a love for reading and a sense of identity.
Fostering Creativity
At the heart of our collective is a deep commitment to fostering creativity among authors. We provide a nurturing and collaborative environment where writers can flourish, honing their storytelling skills, and exploring innovative narratives. Promoting Representation
Representation matters, and our collective is dedicated to championing the voices and stories of Black authors. We strive to increase the representation of Black characters, narratives, and perspectives in children's literature. Our aim is to ensure that young readers can see themselves reflected in the books they read, fostering a sense of identity, pride, and cultural understanding.
Advocating for Literacy
We are passionate advocates for literacy within the Black community and beyond. We actively engage with our community to promote a love of reading among Black children. Through literacy-focused events, workshops, and initiatives, we work to create a culture where reading is not just a skill but a source of joy, empowerment, and lifelong learning.
Supporting Emerging Talent
Emerging authors face unique challenges in the publishing world. Our collective recognizes the importance of providing mentorship, resources, and guidance to these talented writers. We are dedicated to helping them navigate the complexities of the publishing industry, empowering them to share their voices with a broader audience and contribute to the vibrant landscape of children's literature.
